Mentors
KJ Klontz
Hi there, for the past several years I have helped coach 3.0/3.5 players, as well as mentored 3.5/4.0 players. I’ve competed at 5.0 mixed and 4.5, 4.0, 3.5 doubles/mixed tournaments for several years, medaling at Canadian Nationals, as well as many local, provincial and Palm Creek club tournaments.

Preparing for these competitions opened my eyes to the importance of drilling, team strategy, footwork and practicing proper techniques. This is what I would like to share with others. My coaching and mentoring experiences took place at Palm Creek Pickleball club in Casa Grande, Arizona. This year the club had 1500 members.

I have played pickleball for 15 years & play at a 4.0 level. I am also a Level 2 referee. I would be interested in mentoring 3.0 & up players interested in improving their play by helping them with positioning & movement on the court with their partner, basic game strategy & drills for more consistent strokes.

For players entering their first tournament, introducing them to officiated play & how to avoid mistakes that could cause them to have faults called against them.

Hello. If you are brand new to pickleball and the Club, you might be feeling just a wee bit nervous about coming out to play with other members of the KPC.

Well, don’t be...you got me….I started playing indoors with the Club in December 2023, not
because I was keen, or really wanted to, but all my friends were starting to play Pickleball.

I had that “lightbulb” moment: I better learn to play this game, Stat, or I was going to be missing out on a lot of good times with my friends.

That is what I love about pickleball: you can show up at a public court, drop your paddle in, a few minutes later be welcomed in to make up a doubles’ team and by the end of the 15 minutes allotted to play, you have 3 new friends!

I love to welcome brand new players, as well as newcomers that are experienced players to our game wherever we happen to play in this great community.

So, if you are new to the game, or only new to the area and already an experienced player but are a bit nervous about showing up to play not knowing anyone, I am your person.

I play at a 3.0 and am always trying to improve. But for me the game is about community, fun, having a few laughs while playing the best that I can … And forging strong connections and friendships….

If this is what you are looking for in pickleball, or think you might be, or don’t know that this can be yours, too...
